Product Description

CD record

This index. compiled by AIGS, is an invaluable aid to researchers seeking information on when and where their ancestors were granted Crown land in Victoria. The names are those of the persons who are recorded as the first buyers or selectors of land from the Crown. They were transcribed from Parish maps and schedules published by the previous Department of Survey and Mapping (now a section of the Department of Natural Resources & Environment) who gave permission for this task to be undertaken. The index includes names from both the Crown Grant Registry (pre1862) and its successor the Torrens system of Titles. The CD includes QFHSdatasearch - a generic interface developed by the Qld Family History Society for searching genealogy databases.

Part I of this index was published in 1998 and consisted of 67,000 names from 600 parishes. This Part 2 is a database containing approx. 148,000 names extracted from 700 Parishes. It is planned to continue transcribing names from the remaining 700+ parishes for Part 3.

System Requirements PC with Windows operating system: minimum recommended amounts of RAM are 256MB for Win95/98/SE/ME 512MB for WinNT/ 2000/XP and 1GB for Vista. About 10 MB of free disk space is required to install the QFHSdatasearch software. An additional 80 MB is required to install the database to the hard disk drive. No additional software is required
