The Sussex Marriage Index is now available on CD!

All records found for the parishes of Sussex are indexed, with over 300,000 Marriages, Licences, and some Banns.Entries were collected from parish registers and bishops transcripts, including some strays from neighbouring counties, allegations for marriage licences, the Sussex parties in many London and Canterbury allegations, and records of Quaker and Catholic marriages.

Over a thousand marriages in the Fleet Prison, London, from 1667-1754, involving Sussex people are included.

To search, one enters

1. Surname string - using wildcards ? and * if wished then optionally

2. a forename string that is at the beginning of, or contained within, the name sought

3. whether Sussex and/or other parishes

4. whether marriage and/or marriage licences

5. whether Anglican and/or Quaker/Catholic

6. a year and range

7. The results listing shows Date, Forename, Surname, Spouse forename, Spouse surname, Parish/County, and may be sorted on any or all columns.

The search results may be printed, copied to the clipboard, or displayed on a Sussex map showing the distribution of results across the parishes.
