Founded in 1413, St. Andrews is Scotland's oldest university.
In 1862 it became the first university to enrol women and also has the oldest Students' Union. Notable former and present students include John Napier, inventor of logarithms and HRH Prince William. The town of St. Andrews also host the world's oldest golf course. (Published in 1926 by Scottish History Society)
