Titled 'South Australia Pre-Civil Registration Marriages', this CD is a database bringing together the known material including some not so obvious records, to present all the marriages in the period leading up to June 1842 on the one listing. Information has been obtained from various sources, including the Registers of Holy Trinity Church in Adelaide, and newspaper personal notices.
Used in conjunction with the previously published pre-1841 material from Graham Jaunay, the user can gain an excellent insight to their family's very earliest days in the colony.
This particular CD also complements the South Australia Pre-Civil Registration Births, and Deaths that were released in 2005.
Compiled in a database format, and consisting of just over 600 entries the information listed contains: Marriage Date, Couple (Groom/Bride), Age, Occupation, Residence (Groom/Bride), Fathers, Mothers, Marriage Place, Celebrant, Status (Bachelor/Widower, Spinster/Widow), and sources. The information can be browsed or searched, and entries can be looked at in a listing or individually. The residence column lists many from various counties in England, Ireland and Scotland, and a few from elsewhere.
This is a unique, and useful resource for all with early South Australian connections.
