Without a doubt Queensland Police Gazettes are an extremely useful resource for both family and local historians. They were compiled to be distributed amongst the police force only, and therefore these Gazette contain details and information that can not be found anywhere else.
Apart from any changes within the police force which are all listed (promotions, demotions, retirements, deaths etc), information is also given on housebreak-ins, robberies, arson, murders, lost horses and cattle, deserters, escaped prisoners, reports on those released, even deaths reported to the police (together with their place of death and cause of death given). Notices from interstate police gazettes are sometimes included. You will also find details of missing stock, and property, missing persons, even found items as well.
Some issues include court lists, lists of Justices of the Peace, photographs of those wanted, as well lists for liquor, wine sellers, tobacco sellers, auctioneers, billiard and poisons licences. Notices from police gazettes from other states are also often included.
This CD contains 10 years worth of Queensland Police Gazette issues all on the one CD!
