This CD contains the Queensland Family Historian from 2001 to 2010 – the journal of the Queensland Family History Society. First published in 1979, the journals have articles on a wide range of topics relating to Queensland and the research interests of the society’s members – stories of convicts, pioneer families, articles on researching interstate and overseas, on reading old handwriting, school histories and much more.
Moses [Adsett] took an active part in the small community, and there are numerous mentions of him in the Moreton Bay Courier and Brisbane Courier in the 1860s. One entry reports: 'A man, woman, and a bullock team in attempting to cross Enoggera Creek had been swept away by flood. Another entry: 'Fatal Accident at Enoggera Creek' tells the story of Joseph Gridley and Moses Adsett searching for and finding the bodies of John Dunford and his wife. Autopsy records for the couple concluded: 'accidental death by drowning whilst the deceased were in a state ofintoxication'. Perhaps the first case of drink driving in Brisbane?
For the first time the journals are fully searchable as a PDF document on CD ROM – published by Archive Digital Books Australasia.
This CD contains high quality scanned images of the original journals, and has been bookmarked for easy navigation. Pages can be searched, browsed, enlarged and printed out if required.
