Digests or summaries of court cases were reported continuously in The New South Wales Weekly Notes from 1884 to 1970 - and subsequently under a different title. Though a digest or summary, many cases are reported in considerable detail.

You will find any case here that may have come before the courts. Some examples are: bankruptcy, violence, murder, probate and claims under wills or cases of intestacy, restraining injunctions, right of custody, divorce, criminal cases, assault, libel, a business or institution against an individual, and vice versa, and much more.

Any of our forebears could have been involved in many of these cases, either as a plaintiff or defendant - or simply as a witness or a person affected by the outcome. Other family members may be mentioned, sometimes by date of birth, marriage and death and other events in a person's life. While some reports are quite brief, others run to several pages.

Anyone could be a party to any of these cases. A great deal of personal and genealogical information appears. Fill in some details of your families’ lives with information you may not find anywhere else.
