Product Description

CD record [1 CD - (218 pages)]

Written in 1887 by Walter SS Tyrwhitt, it is mainly an account of the author's personal experiences in Queensland, and he ventures to hope that as it deals with the every-day life of a Colonist in the Bush, it may be useful to those who think of settling in Australia. He has not enjoyed the inestimable, privilege of being "shewn round," but perhaps on that account he has had a better chance of seeing things as they really are, and not in their holiday aspect.

The chapters cover Country, Climate and Agriculture; Sheep and Cattle; Lost in the Bush; Society and Classes of People; Horses and Riding; A Day’s Work; Wild Animals, Sport, &c., and Droving. The book gives a snapshot of Queensland and the prevailing social conditions in the late 1880s.

This CD contains high quality scanned images of the original book, and has been bookmarked for easy navigation. Pages can be searched, browsed, enlarged and printed out if required.
