The Mount Morgan Goldmine Queensland, 1893 details the mine works and treatment of ore up to October 1892. The narrative starts with an examination of Rockhampton, the nearest port, the Central Railway and the regional shipping scene together with revenue from imports and exports through the Port of Rockhampton from 1882. A study of mining enterprises in the district up to and including the Mount Morgan discovery provides the reader with a background to mining in Queensland although it is focussed on gold recovery.

The establishment of the mining company by Fred, Edwin, and Thomas Morgan, and

a nephew of Fred, and John Ferguson who collectively held a half of the shares. The other half being held by Thomas Skarratt Hall, W Hall, William Knox D'Arcy, and William Pattison.

Features of the mine are described in detail including the aerial tramway and the book concludes with some very useful maps and plans of the mine.

Old historical records are a valuable resource for local, family and social historians as well as for researchers in other fields of Australian history. They provide information on the environment experienced by the residents of the time and how they lived, as well as their occupations.
