>The 1884-1885 Directory was the first year of publication for the Middleton and Manings Gippsland Directory.

This Directory includes general information on the districts of Gippsland, beginning from what was considered the most important boroughs and shires, such as the borough of Sale and Walhalla, to the smaller shires and townships.

It also includes a tourists' guide and map to the Gippsland Lakes which shows some travel routes. An Alphabetical directory covering the major towns and shires is also contained in this GIppsland Directory.
