It is 50 years since the first release of Maldon and the Tarrangower diggings and the value of this publication has not diminished. The text reflects the times, lifestyles and conditions of the first 100 years of Maldon...the boom and bust of the gold rush, the decline and rise of the town as we know it up to 1850.
The text has received a few minor corrections to spelling, and references to the 50's etc have been changed to 1850 or 1950. As the original photograph plates have been lost to the annals of time the photographs, where possible, have been re-produced. Where the Maldon Museum and Archives did not have copies of originals, a few have been replaced with a similar photo.
