The above military documents show the following details -Name and number, where born and whether British subject, where they are residing, where they have lived for the past twelve months. Name of present employer. Age and occupation. If they were apprentices and if so whom and when and where. Marital status and if there are any children under the age of 14 years. If been in prison. If they belong to the army, navy etc. Have served in forces and any pension. Rejected for services and on what grounds. Number of years to serve. Full description including marks. Statement of services. There are questions regarding service abroad, wounded, special instances of gallant conduct and medals. Injuries in or by Army service. Name and address of next of kin. In some instances show the mother, brothers and sisters and their addresses, in some instances in Canada.

Unlike the regular army, these documents are for Attestation only and if a man was found to be medically unfit all his details remained on file, so even if your ancestor did not serve in the army there may be something of him in these documents.
