A consolidated list of 10,000 people who arrived in Australia as free settlers or were returned ex-convicts. Soldiers and sailors who did not settle in Australia are not mentioned. They are embraced by a seperate work.

Each person is shown in alphabetical order together with their ship of arrival in Australia where this was ascertained.

The work was compiled using the official victualling lists, military payrolls and musters as the main sources of information plus New South Wales Colonial Secretary's records. Some family records were located and used.
