Product Description

CD record

An historical account of the instigation and early biography of Edinburgh's Veterinary College. The college was set up in 1823 by William Dick, funded by student fees and a grant from the Highland Society. Improved accommodation was made available at Clyde Street from 1833 and continued there until 1913, when the college moved to its present location.

A chapter on past and present staff includes the names of a succession of professors in medicine, surgery, cattle pathology, anatomy, physiology, botany, zoology, hygiene, and dietetics. There are similar lists concerning lecturers in stable management, zootechny, jurisprudence, and histology, and a record of those associated with the college who died in the WWI.
