The British Army in Australia 1788 - 1870 is a comprehensive index listing 34,000 British soldiers and marines who served in the Australian Colonies between 1788 - 1870. Some troops and marines may have been missed.
New Zealand postings were not especially included, although many of them, particularly personnel from the 14th and 18th Regiments, also served there.
Rank is not shown. Some regiments spent many years in Australia and the rank of many soldiers changed during their service. Researchers are helped by this index to locate the unit in which their soldier of interest served.;The unit's records are cross-referenced.
