This CD contains an index to over 530,000 burials recorded in the burial registers of 218 Berkshire parishes cemeteries and non-conformist places of worship. The indexing project is being carried out by volunteers on behalf of the Berkshire Family History Society. This CD represents progress to October 2007. Work will continue until all available burial registers have been indexed To date coverage concentrates heavily on Church of England parishes from historic Berkshire which remained in Berkshire following the 1974 boundary changes- There are also a number of non-conformist registers included and partial coverage of the large municipal cemeteries in Caversham and Reading. There is also ever increasing coverage of the parishes moved to Oxfordshire in 1974 there is no coverage of the parishes absorbed from Buckinghamshire. Coverage also varies with date, some places have extensive coverage others little (so far).

Full coverage of this CD can be found on the Society website at www.berksfhs.org.uk. Further indexing is constantly adding to the data within the Berkshire Burial Index, the aim is to re-issue this CD on an annual basis provided sufficient additional records are available.
