The 'Atlantic Bridge to Germany' series was the brain-child of Charles M. Hall which started in 1974. It evolved into ten books covering most of the German Empire states.
Since Charles Hall's retirement in 2002, the owners of Origins Books have undertaken the job of updating and publishing these books. The third book to be completed by them is Pomerania. It has been completely revamped with new maps, and extra pages have been added with history, and tips on how to research in Pomerania.
The splitting of Pomerania in 1945 between Germany and Polan has caused considerable problems fpr genealogusts. Also Worl War II and its aftermath destroyed many records. Those records that have survived are scattered in numerous German or Polish Archives, remain in the local church or civil offices, or ended up in private hands.
This book is an attempt to identify most of the places in Pomerania before 1920, along with indicating the available church and civil records. Additional pages with history, maps, and tips on how to research in Pomerania, as well as listings of relevant societies and internet websites to visit are also included.
